The canals were perfectly laid out on the landscape to achieve a downhill drop (or gradient) of 1 to 2 feet per mile. Any repairs made during this inspection include a 5 year materials warranty. Plus, because we own all our equipment, and all our trucks are loaded with the most common replacement parts, we can make over 95% of repairs within minutes of identifying the problem. The canal systems allowed the Hohokam to farm corn, cotton, beans, tobacco and squash. We start scheduling start-ups in March, and in April, we begin turning on systems so they are ready to go for spring. Because irrigation systems in central Ohio must be drained and Winterized each fall, your irrigation system needs to be returned to regular operating status every spring. The Chaco and the Hohokam systems evolved in quite different environments, having considerably different irrigation infrastructure.
